"Kaya" meaning "pure, home, resting place, the healer".
Kaya Street are a band with it's meaning, purpose and passion rooted in the belief that music is the healer, the messenger, home and resting place of human emotions and creativity. It is a community language we speak the world over, with the power to make us meditate, to make us dance and to feel connected.
Kaya Street emphasises this connectivity through its collective and ever expanding nature, bringing artists and performers together to create music under one banner via their musical director Kaya (pictured).
Dark, uplifting and atmospheric, Kaya Street immerse their sound in a genre hopping blend of neo-soul, dub reggae, trip hop, african, psychedelia, indie, folk and electronica. The band perform as a multi-dynamic project with original singjay sets, intimate acoustic low-fi sets and all out live band shows.
As a newly formed group Kaya Street have gained immediate attention within Bristol having a DJ slot on one of the mainstages at 2018's St Paul's 50th Carnival celebration and members have previously played at Boardmasters, Shamabala, Boomtown and supported artist such as The Specials, The Abyssinians, and Julian Marley.
